An EF3 tornado hit Snow Hill, North Carolina, at 555 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2011. I was there. I was inside it. I witnessed what most people never will, but I survived… physically that is.
The National Weather Service reported that this tornado was 400 yards wide and 18 miles long with sustained winds from 145 to 160 miles per hour. It was one of twelve tornadoes associated with three super cell thunderstorms in eastern North Carolina on this date. It was the worst tornado outbreak in North Carolina history, totalling 31 with 16 rated as EF2 and EF3.
Many people think Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is an imaginary disorder, symptoms that people invent. Trust me; it is not. Here is my story and, I hope after you read it, you will better understand the effect that trauma can impose on a person’s mind, changing them forever. I never dreamed my life would be affected like this, but it is… and continues to be.

I've known Connie Owens all my life, and I knew that the tornado had a huge impact on her life, but I did not know all she went through until I read her book. In it she shows the strength I always knew she had, but she also tells the effects PTSD had taken in her life. I know how good she loved to sing and have been to hear her sing lots of times over the years. It saddens me that PTSD has taken that away from her. I pray that she will get it back someday, even if just for her own enjoyment. This is a well written book, telling about her experience with and since a tornado took her home along with everything she had and how it has effected her life. Thankfully, she survived it. A must read to understand about PTSD whether you or someone you know is going through it. Thank you, Connie for sharing your story.Product details

On The Inside Looking Out The aftermath of a tornadoliving with PTSD Connie Owens Reviews
If you or a loved one suffer from PTSD this is a must read. It really gives insight into what the 'sufferer' is going thru and what types of events can trigger it. It definitely helped me understand and have empathy for those who deal with PTSD daily.
I have lived with PTSD since I was a child. I've gone thru years of counseling. I recommend this to anyone else with PTSD. There are things that can trigger the symptoms even now, but I've been blessed with tools to calm myself down. It does get better. Thank you for sharing your story.
Very good book and should be helpful to other tornado victims. Should be shared in tornado training classes. Brave lady.
I couldn't put this book down until I finished it. This book opened my eyes to PTSD. I had no idea how bad it is. I'm sure I'll read this again and again. I couldn't stop thinking about it all day.Few people have lived to tell this. I felt bad for ones who havent made it through a tonado.
Great job Connie, hopefully this will help others.
Having known the author for years and knowing her vitality for life and her music, it was brave for her to show her inner human side from her traumatic experience. This is a very poignant account of what we all could feel if we had been through this experience. Hats off to her for revealing her PTSD and the journey back to normalcy!
I have known Connie since high school and she was so outgoing and full of life. I remember the tornado and the damage done but had no idea a friend was in need. She has done an awesome job explaing PTSD and I recomend this to anyone who has or knows something with this horrible disorder.
